The next movie in the Conjuring spinoff series is The Nun 2, and news about the demon Valak’s return is coming fast as the 2023 release date approaches.
After Saw, his first movie as a director, did well in 2004, James Wan had trouble making subsequent movies. Dead Silence and Death Sentence didn’t do well at the box office, but they now have fan bases.
Wan returned to his roots with 2010’s Insidious, which showed that he was a master of modern horror. However, it was his next film, The Conjuring, which, like Saw, started a series that made a lot of money at the box office.
After Annabelle, The Nun was the second IP to come out of the Conjure universe, and now The Nun 2 is on the way.
When will The Nun 2 come out?
The Nun 2 was reportedly in the works soon after the first movie came out in 2018, but the release date was later given. But The Nun 2 is coming out on September 8, 2023, almost five years after the first movie, as per reports of Screenrant.
During a 2019 interview with EW, Peter Safran, the director of the Conjuring films, said he was working on a sequel to The Nun, which he said would have “an entertaining storyline.” He also said about a possible sequel, “I think there will be another Nun movie.”
Does The Nun II have a trailer?
On July 6, 2023, Warner Bros. posted the official trailer for The Nun II. The video will also play before showings of Insidious: The Red Door. The trailer hints that the Conjuring spin-off movie will have a lot of scary scenes and give the evil nun Valak a new story.
Early in June 2023, a teaser video was only shown in theatres before certain showings of The Boogeyman. A new teaser for The Nun II below came out on August 7.

Will The Nun 2 movie available digitally?
Collider says that The Nun II will only be available in theatres, which is bad news for people who like to watch scary movies at home (maybe with the lights on). But the movie will likely be available to watch at some point.
We don’t know where the film will end up, but there are chances that the movie will be on Max, where you can now stream the first Nun movie and watch the scary predecessor to The Conjuring again.

What will happen in The Nun II?
In an interview with ComingSoon.net, Bonnie Aarons, who plays the demon Valak, said that she hopes the movie shows more of the “depth of the demon.” By learning more about the demon’s personality, we might be able to guess how Ed and Lorraine Warren will deal with the evil being in future Conjuring movies.
At the end of the first Nun movie, it was revealed that “Frenchie,” or Maurice, had been taken over by the devil Valak. Twenty years later, Ed and Lorraine Warren’s seminars showed a tape of Maurice’s exorcism. It is also the exorcism where Lorraine sees Ed’s death.
Fans are interested to see what part of Maurice’s story will be shown in this next chapter of The Conjurverse and if Maurice’s exorcism will bring the stars of The Conjuring and The Nun together.
Here’s the formal summary of the story:
1956 – France. A priest is murdered. An evil is spreading. The sequel to the worldwide smash hit follows Sister Irene as she once again comes face-to-face with Valak, the demon nun.
Could the priest in the picture that James Wan sent be the one who dies? People will have to wait and see what happens.
