Rakesh Tikait is Indian farmer leader and son of famous farmer leader Mahendra Singh Tikait. Rakesh Tikait was born on 4 June 1969 at Sisauli village in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed his post graduation in Master of Arts from Meerut University. His family belongs to Baliyan Khap and the rule of this Khap is that after the death of father the elder son get the charge. Naresh Tikait is the elder brother of Rakesh Tikait, So he become the president of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU). Rakesh Tikait joined Delhi Police as a Constable in 1992, but later he resigned and got the membership of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) during the Farmer protest during 1993-1994 on Lal Qila.
