Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a financial inclusion scheme of Indian government applicable for age group of 20 to 65 years. PMJDY scheme aims to expand and make affordable access to financial services such as bank accounts, remittances, credit, insurance and pensions. Poor people can now avail following benefits such as opening of zero balance bank accounts, no minimum balance requirement, overdraft facility after 6 months, interest is on deposit and free RuPay debit card for account. Around 35.59 crore beneficiaries banked so far and Rs. 98,434.07 crore balance is deposited in these beneficiaries accounts. There is accidental insurance cover of Rs. 1.00 lac and life cover of Rs. 30,000 which is payable on death of the beneficiary.
