This is the highest constitutional post in the country. Article 52 of the Indian Constitution states that there shall be a President of India and as per Article 53, all executive powers of the Union shall be exercised by him either openly or through officers subordinate to him. Eligibility for President of India
Article 58 of the constitution sets the principal qualifications one must meet to be eligible for the office of the president. A president must be:
- a citizen of India
- of 35 years of age or above
- qualified to become a member of the Lok Sabha
