After coming to power in 2014, Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi has launched several welfare schemes for poor people in India. In the past 5 years of NDA govt., PM Modi has launched around 180+ schemes. These schemes basically focuses on different sections of the society such as women, farmers, children, youth. The primary objective is to provide assistance to women, reduce farm distress, reduce unemployment, proper nutrition to children, health for all, houses for all, meal for all and other basic necessities. All of these schemes are listed below

  1. 1. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

    Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is an ambitious scheme of Narendra Modi government to ensure "Housing For All" for poor people. Under the PMAY, central govt. aims to provide about 5 Crore affordable homes to the EWS / LIG category by FY year 2022. Around 2 crore homes to be build in urban areas under PMAY-U housing scheme and 3 crore in rural areas under PMAY Gramin (PMAY-G) across the country. Indian govt. to provide financial assistance to poor home buyers, interest subsidy on home loan and direct subsidy on homes.

  2. 2. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

    PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana aims to provide Rs. 6000 per annum to small and marginal farmers with land holding upto 2 hectares. All the farmers with land holding upto 5 acres of land will get Rs. 6,000 per year in PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana in 3 equal installments of Rs. 2,000 each with an outlay of Rs. 75,000 crore. Around 12 crore small and marginal farmers would be benefited and installments would be transferred directly into the bank accounts of the farmers. In case the Aadhaar number is not present, then other alternate documents namely driving licence (DL), voter ID card, NREGA job card and other identification issued by central / state govt. or their authorities needs to be provided to avail installment under PM Kisan Scheme.

  3. 3. PM Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana

    In Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana, govt. is going to provide Rs. 3,000 p.m on attaining the age of 60 years to ensure old age protection for unorganised sector workers. These workers mostly engaged as home based workers, street vendors, mid-day meal workers, head loaders, brick kiln workers, cobblers, rag pickers, domestic workers, washer men, rickshaw pullers, landless labourers, own account workers, agricultural workers, construction workers, beedi workers, handloom workers, leather workers, audio-visual workers and similar other occupations. The monthly income of the labourers must be less than Rs. 15,000/ per month or less and belong to the entry age group of 18-40 years are eligible.

  4. 4. PM Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY)

    Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana (PMVVY) Pension plan provides immediate pension for senior citizens of 60 years and above. LIC Plan 842 can be purchased by paying a lumpsum amount to provide for pension payments of stated amount for the policy term of 10 years. There is a return of purchase price at the end of 10 years. Pension payment modes available for PMVVY scheme are monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly. PMVVY Pension would be paid at the end of each period as per payment mode chosen starts as early as next month if monthly mode is chosen. On the death of the pensioner at any time during the term of 10 years, the purchase price will be refunded to the legal heirs/nominees.

  5. 5. Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojana

    PMRPY Scheme is specifically designed to incentivise employers to create new employment opportunities. In this PM Rojgar Protsahan Yojana, govt. pays full employer’s contribution towards EPF & EPS both. This scheme has a dual benefit, where, on the one hand, the employer is incentivised for increasing the employment base of workers in the establishment, and on the other hand, a large number of workers will find jobs in such establishments. A direct benefit is that these workers will have access to social security benefits of the organized sector.

  6. 6. Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan

    Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (Kusum) Scheme has been launched in order to solarize agricultural pump sets to double the income of farmers by 2022. Now farmers can setup solar agriculture pumpsets on their barren land, generate and utilize the energy and sell the excess energy to DISCOMS to earn additional income. Govt. will provide 60% subsidy of the total cost to farmers for setting up of solar power plants for agriculture / farming under this Solar Power Subsidy Scheme. Farmers can get solar pumps and tube wells for farming purpose to make effective utilization of the solar energy and reduce expenditure of farmers.

  7. 7. Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana

    Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (previously Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY)) is a maternity benefit program run by the Indian government. PMMVY scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. This is a conditional cash transfer scheme for pregnant and lactating women of 19 years of age or above for the first live birth. It provides a partial wage compensation to women for wage-loss during childbirth and childcare and to provide conditions for safe delivery and good nutrition and feeding practices. Previously the pregnant women were given 6000 but in PMMVY they receive 5000 in 3 installments. The primary objective is to reduce the infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate.

  8. 8. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

    Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a financial inclusion scheme of Indian government applicable for age group of 20 to 65 years. PMJDY scheme aims to expand and make affordable access to financial services such as bank accounts, remittances, credit, insurance and pensions. Poor people can now avail following benefits such as opening of zero balance bank accounts, no minimum balance requirement, overdraft facility after 6 months, interest is on deposit and free RuPay debit card for account. Around 35.59 crore beneficiaries banked so far and Rs. 98,434.07 crore balance is deposited in these beneficiaries accounts. There is accidental insurance cover of Rs. 1.00 lac and life cover of Rs. 30,000 which is payable on death of the beneficiary.

  9. 9. Pradhan Mantri Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

    PM Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a small savings deposit scheme for girl children to ensure that the female child is not a burden and liability on the family. This scheme aims to secure the future of girl child and was launched as a part of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao mission. Parents can save small amount for their female children from their earnings which will be returned on attaining the age of 21 years with maximum interest rate. Parents can utilize this money for the marriage of the girls or for their higher studies. Maximum of 2 girls from a single family can avail scheme benefits and account of girls can be opened from her birth till the age of 10 years. Deposits needs to be made in the name of minor girl child.

  10. 10. Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana

    Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) aims to provide Rs. 10 lakh to non-corporate, non-farm small / micro enterprises. People can get these loans from various commercial banks, RRBs, small finance banks, cooperative banks, MFIs and NBFCs for starting their own business. MUDRA Loans has created 3 products namely Shishu, Kishore and Tarun to signify the stage of growth / development and funding needs of the beneficiary micro unit / entrepreneur. Shishu category covers loans upto Rs. 50,000, Kishore category covers loans between Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 5 lakh while Tarun category covers loans ranging from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh.

  11. 11. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana

    PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana is a government-backed Life insurance scheme in India launched in order to raise the life insurance coverage. PMJJBY scheme is available to people b/w 18 and 50 years of age having bank accounts. The annual premium amount is Rs. 330 which would be debited directly through the bank accounts of beneficiaries. In case of death due to any cause, the payment to the nominee under PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana would be Rs. 2 lakh. This scheme is also going to be linked to the bank accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana scheme having zero balance initially.

  12. 12. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana

    Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana is a government-backed accident insurance scheme in India and is available to people between 18 and 70 years of age with bank accounts. PMSBY scheme has an annual premium amount of Rs. 12 and this amount would be automatically debited from the account. The accident insurance scheme coverage is of 1 year i.e from 1 June to 31 May offered through banks and administered through public sector general insurance companies. In case of accidental death or full disability, the payment to the nominee will be Rs. 2 lakh while in case of partial permanent disability, payment to the nominee would be of Rs. 1 lakh.

  13. 13. Atal Pension Yojana

    Atal Pension Yojana or earlier Swavalamban Yojana is a government backed pension scheme for unorganized sector workers. Under APY, all the subscribers will get guaranteed minimum monthly pension of upto Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000 after their retirement as per their contribution. The scheme is open to all Indian citizens between the 18-40 years of age. Beneficiaries will have to make contribution for at-least 20 years before they receive pension. Central govt. of India will contribute 50% of the contribution made by the subscriber or Rs. 1000 (whichever is lower) per annum for a period of upto 5 years.

  14. 14. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

    PMFBY is a crop insurance scheme of Modi govt. to provide coverage to farmers in case their crops gets destroyed by heavy rain, natural calamities, pests or diseases. PM Fasal Bima Yojana will stabilize the income of farmers to ensure their continuance in farming and would encourage them to adopt innovative and modern agricultural practices. This scheme will ensure flow of credit to the agriculture sector. The premium amount for Kharif crops is 2% and 1.5% of sum insured for Rabi crops. Kharif and Rabi covers most food crops and oil crops cultivated in India.

  16. 16. PM Employment Generation Programme

    PM Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) aims to generate self employment opportunities through establishment of micro enterprises in non-farm sector. This is a Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) and will help traditional artisans and unemployed youths to raise their wages. To avail subsidy, maximum project cost is Rs. 25 lakh for manufaturing sector and Rs. 10 lakh for business / service sector. For their business, people will have to pay only 5% to 10% of total project cost. PMEGP scheme will strengthen small, medium entrepreneurs and will create a vibrant MSME sector.

  17. 17. Khelo India School Games

    Khelo India School Games is a national level programme which aims to identify sporting talent among school children. This would be done by organizing games at school level and the top performing candidates will be selected for further training. In this training, govt. will provide Rs. 5 lakh to each of the performing candidate and will make them capable of competing at the global level to earn medals for India. The Khelo India programme has been introduced to revive the sports culture in India at the grass-root level by building a strong framework for all sports played in our country and establish India as a great sporting nation.

  18. 18. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

    To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on sanitation, PM Modi has launched Swachh Bharat Mission. In Rural India, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan would mean improving the levels of cleanliness through Solid and Liquid Waste Management activities and making villages Open Defecation Free (ODF), clean and sanitised. This scheme aims to bring about an improvement in the general quality of life in the rural areas, by promoting cleanliness, hygiene and eliminating open defecation. This scheme will motivate communities to adopt sustainable sanitation practices and facilities through awareness creation and health education.

  19. 19. Soil Health Card Scheme

    The soil health card studies and reviews the health of soil and gives a complete evaluation of the quality of soil right from its functional characteristics, to water and nutrients content and other biological properties. The farmers are also provided with corrective measures which they should adopt to obtain a better yield. All soil samples are to be tested in various soil testing labs across the country. Thereafter the experts will analyse the strength and weaknesses (micro-nutrients deficiency) of the soil and suggest measures to deal with it. The result and suggestion will be displayed in the cards. SHC scheme aims at promoting soil test based and balanced use of fertilisers to enable farmers to realise higher yields at lower cost.

  20. 20. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

    India has over 24 crore households & around 10 crore families are deprived of LPG gas cooking fuel. These poor families still have to rely on firewood, coal, dung – cakes etc. as primary source of cooking. The smoke from burning such fuels causes alarming household pollution and has adverse affects on health of women & children causing several respiratory diseases and disorders. So, modi govt. now provides free LPG gas connections to all the poor family members in the name of women. Under PMUY scheme, govt. provides financial support of Rs 1600 for each LPG connection to the BPL households.
