Indian Government have an honors system of awarding given to the individuals for the verity of their services. The contribution, power and efforts of a man towards the nation to make it better living place.Indian Government have an achievement awards that aimed at acknowledging the best in the verity of services Civilian, Military, National services, Literature services to the Republic of India.

Indian Government categorize these awards according to their services like Civilian Awards, Military Awards, Nation Awards, Literature Awards and Particular Awards (Nation Sports Awards, Police Awards and Bravery Awards). So according to the services Government distribute awards among the elected persons.

1. Bharat Ratna Award

Bharat Ratna Award

Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award in India. this award was instituted in 1954 in India. Bharat Ratna is the certificate signed by the President of India. Any person that have exceptional service or performance of the highest order in any field of human behavior are eligible for this award. The Prime Minister made the recommendations to the President for the Bharat Ratna, with a maximum of three nominees being awarded per year.

2. Padma Vibhushan Award

Padma Vibhushan Award

Padma Vibhushan Award established in 1954. It is the type of Nation Civilian Award. Till 2018 total 303 awards have been distributed to the elected persons. It is the second highest civilian Award and President of India distributes on every Republic Day. Padma Vibhushan award distributes by President of India according to exceptional and distinguished service without distinction of occupation,position and sex. It includes the service in any field including doctors and scientists.

3. Padma Bhushan Award

Padma Bhushan Award

Padma Bhushan Award is the third highest award established in 1954 in India. Every year the President of India constituted a Padma Awards committee and recommendation for the award are submitted between 1 May to 15 September. The committee later submits their recommendations to the Prime Minister and the President of India for the further approval. The award recipients are announced on Republic Day.

Padma Shri Award

Padma Shri Award is fourth highest civilian award in India. Indian government announced Padma Shri awards for personalities who served the poor, set up free schools and popularized tribal arts globally. On the obverse of Padma Shri , the word “Padma” meaning lotus in Sanskrit and “Shri” means a personality or equivalent to ‘Mr’ or ‘Ms’ appear in Devanagari above and below a lotus flower. Padma Shri Award embossing is in white gold with burnished bronze geometrical pattern.

5. Param Vir Chakra Award

Param Vir Chakra Award

Param Vir Chakra award is India’s highest military decoration award. Param Vir Chakra means “Wheel of the Ultimate Brave” and this reward grants for “most conspicuous bravery in the presence of the enemy”. Param Vir Chakra award established in 1950 in India. The medal is a circular bronze disc 1.375 inches (34.9 mm) in diameter.

6. Maha Vir Chakra Award

Maha Vir Chakra Award

Maha Vir Chakra is the second highest military award decoration in India. It is awarded for acts of conspicuous gallantry in the presence of the enemy, whether on land, at sea or in the air. Maha Vir Chakra established in 26 Jan. 1950 and is awarded for literally great warrior. Maha Vir Chakra is circular in shape and made of standard silver. The words “Mahavira Chakra” are embossed in Devanagari and English on the reverse with two lotus flowers in the middle.

Vir Chakra is third third wartime gallantry award presented for bravery acts in the battlefield. Vir Chakra Award Established by the President of India on 26 January 1950 (with effect from 15 August 1947). Vir Chakra medal is 1-3/8 inch circular silver medal. A five pointed star, with the chakra in the center. The ribbon is 32 mm, half dark blue and half orange-saffron.

8. Ashok Chakra Award

Ashok Chakra Award established in 1952. It is highest peacetime military award. The Ashok Chakra is awarded for the daring act and most conspicuous bravery in the facing of the enemy. Ashok Chakra is circular Gold gilt of 1-3/8 inches in diameter and in the center the chakra (wheel) of Ashoka. The wheel of Ashoka surrounded by lotus wreath and with an ornate edge. The Ribbon of 32 mm dark green and in center a 2 mm saffron stripe.

9. Kirti Chakra Award

Kirti Chakra Award is second in order of precedence of peacetime gallantry awards. Kirti Chakra Award is an Indian Military decoration awarded for the courageous and self sacrifice in the battle of away from the field of battle. It may be awarded both civilian as well as military person. Kirti Chakra Award is a peacetime gallantry award equivalent to Maha vir Chakra Award. Kirti Chakra Award is established in 1952. It is silver made circular shape medal.

10. Shaurya Chakra Award

Shaurya Chakra Award

Shaurya Chakra is third highest Peacetime Gallantry Award established in 1952. All the officers, men and women of all ranks of the Army, Navy, Air Force and any of Reserve Forces are eligible for this award. Shaurya Chakra is circular bronze medal having 1-3/8 inches diameter. The Ribbon is of Green color divided into three equal parts by two orange vertical lines.
