Baba Gurdit Singh was born on 25th August 1860 in Sarhali, Punjab. He chartered a Japanese ship, the Komagata Maru, in 1914 to go to Canada to help his compatriots whose journey to Canada were being blocked. He is a great Indian socialist revolutionary and died for the independence of his country. Baba Gurdit Singh had one son Baba Balwant Singh.
